Best of 2018 Installations
2018 has been a phenomenal year! We wanted to take a moment to share some of our favorite installations from this year, with hopes that next year will be even better! Feel free to share your own photos on our Facebook page, and tell us what your favorite part of 2018 was!
January 2018, Fort Collins
6 skylights were installed on this roof, and were showing signs of breakdown due to age. We worked closely with this customer to ensure that she got everything she wanted out of her skylights. Ultimately, we ended up fully replacing all 6 skylights with 5 – VELUX fixed, flat, laminated glass skylights, with factory installed, solar powered, room darkening blinds, and 1 VELUX Solar Powered Fresh air skylight with factory installed solar powered room darkening blinds. In the end, this home was set up for proper air flow and heat and light management in all six skylights!

Sometimes the simplest change can adjust a whole space. That was the case for this homeowner, who was seeking to add some light into two areas in his home. Sun Tunnels are a perfect, affordable way to introduce natural light without major demolition work. Pictured below is the transformation that occurred in the hall and master bathroom of this home!
March 2018, Fort Collins
This was a project that we worked on with a repeat customer who was in love with their Sun Tunnel from a previous installation. This time, they asked us to bring light into their hallway and bathroom to light up their art displays, and add another one in their kitchen to bring in even more light! You can see the beautiful results below!
April 2018, Greeley
Specialty roofing material requires a little more time and attention to ensure that everything is sealed and water-tight. This project spanned over the course of three days, in which we removed the existing tile, installed the skylights, and replaced the tile. In total, 12 skylights were installed on this roof. The ones pictured below featured a specialty flashing style for skylights that are installed close together. This seamless application created a beautiful sunroom for the homeowner in the end!
May 2018, Fort Collins
Nothing brightens my day, like walking into a building a seeing beautiful natural light shining through. This was the effect we attempted to create in an Old Town business in Fort Collins. And may I say, mission accomplished. These large commercial skylights created a stunning effect on the interior of the building.
June 2018, Red Feather Lakes
These homeowners had an existing skylight in their bedroom, but it just wasn’t quite cutting it for air flow or light input. Our skilled installers added two brand new skylights, one on either side of the existing one, and completed the installation, from start to finish! The new installation featured one manually venting skylight in the center, and two fixed skylights, all flashed together in a seamless, sealed application. To add to the fun, these skylights were on a 12:12 pitch – that’s very steep! Check out the final results below.
July 2018, Home Office =)
Every business needs certain tools in order to strive towards success. Heinsight Solutions is no different. So, in July of 2018, we “installed” two new vehicles into our fleet, to make sure we can get around quickly and safely! If you see our new vehicles around, give us a honk to say hello!
August 2018, Loveland
Often, when new buildings are under construction, we are often contacted to provide lighting solutions. This project offered up a unique opportunity to try out a new VELUX product, the Dynamic Dome. For this project, we provided measurements so that contractors could cut the holes the correct size. Our job was to come in after the holes were cut and set the skylights. See below, as our team member celebrates a job well done with an exciting new skylight!
September 2018, Livermore
Many people stray away from home modifications when they have a specialty roofing material, like tile or metal. We’re here to show you that there is no reason why these roofs cannot work with Sun Tunnels and skylights, just as well as a shingle roof. This homeowner wanted to have two Sun Tunnels installed in a living room to provide extra light. The only specialty equipment that was required for this job was a flashing kit for a metal roof. Aside from that, the Sun Tunnel installation went just as well as any other. And, as you can see, the results were beautiful, inside and out.
October 2018, Fort Collins
This homeowner was in need of an upgrade to her large existing skylights. After discussing options with her, we decided to take up the same amount of space for the skylights, but do a 2×3 combi-flashed application, instead of ordering custom skylights. In general, we encourage our customers to stick with standard options, wherever possible, as this keeps upkeep, maintenance and repair simple. The result was absolutely beautiful!
November 2018, Fort Collins
Over the course of 2 days, we had the privilege to work in a pretty special home, installing 12 skylights equipped with all of the bells and whistles that VELUX had to offer. This installation allowed us to introduce the new homeowners, not only to Solar powered fresh air skylights, but the new VELUX Active program. Active allows the homeowner to control the functioning of their skylights from anywhere using a smart phone. It also monitors the quality of the air in the home, opening or closing the skylight based on changes in the atmosphere. This simple add on brings skylights into the 21st century, and we were lucky enough to be there to see it!
December 2018, Fort Collins
One of our favorite things in this line of work is taking a beautiful room and enhancing it with natural light. That is what we were able to do in this lovely Fort Collins home, where the homeowners felt that the powder room just wasn’t quite cutting it. A quick estimate showed that a 10″ VELUX Sun Tunnel with solar night light would be a perfect addition to this space. The solar night light allows enough light that users can navigate the space without using any electricity! During the day, while the natural daylight is flooding into the room, the solar night light charges up to prepare for the next evening!
